Keyboard shortcuts provide a method to complete a simple digital task more efficiently than you would manually. In the keyboard shortcuts listed below, the “+” means that keys listed should be held down while the others are pressed.

IOS

  • Cmd + C = copy selected text
  • Cmd  + V = paste last content that has been copied
  • Cmd + Shift + V = paste without formatting
  • Cmd + X = cut selected text 
  • Cmd + T = create a new tab
  • Cmd + N = create new window
  • Cmd + Z = undo previous action 
  • Cmd + Y = redo previous action
  • Cmd + R = refresh screen 
  • Cmd + Shift + T = open last tab closed
  • Cmd + Shift + Tab = moving between tabs 
  • Cmd + Shift + N = open incognito window
  • Cmd + Shift + 3 = capture screenshot of entire screen
  • Cmd + Shift + 4 = capture screenshot of selected area 
  • Cmd + F = find items in a document
  • Cmd + ‘+’ = restore to regular zoom (100%) 
  • Cmd + ‘-’ = Zoom out
  • Cmd + 0 = Restore to regular 

 

Windows

  • Ctrl + C = copy selected text / content
  • Ctrl + V = paste last content that has been copied
  • Ctrl + Shift + V = paste without formatting (following formatting of the text in the new location)
  • Ctrl + X = cut selected text / content
  • Ctrl + T = create a new tab
  • Ctrl + N = create new window
  • Ctrl + Shift + T = open last tab closed
  • Ctrl + Shift + N = open incognito window**
  • Ctrl + R = refresh tab
  • Ctrl + B = bold selected text
  • Ctrl + I = italicize selected text
  • Ctrl + U = underline selected text
  • Ctrl + Z = undo previous action
  • Ctrl + Y = redo previous action
  • Windows + right arrow = fill right half of screen with current window
  • Windows + left arrow = fill left half of screen with current window
  • Windows + Shift + S = take a screenshot of a selected area and copies it to your clipboard
  • Windows + PrtScr = take a screenshot of entire screen (saves to “This PC > Pictures > Screenshots”)
  • Windows + Spacebar = switch between keyboard languages (up to down)
  • Alt + Shift = switch between keyboard languages (down to up)
  • Alt + Tab = move between windows
  • Ctrl + a digit = switch to that tab number
      • Ex: Ctrl + 3 will move you to the 3rd tab you have open
      • If you have more than 9 tabs open, Ctrl + 9 will move you to your last tab
  • Ctrl + ‘+’ = zoom in
  • Ctrl + ‘-’ = zoom out
  • Ctrl + 0 = restore to regular zoom (100%)

Ctrl + F = search for a particular word/phrase in a document
