Meet The College Counseling Team

Our College Counseling program is led by a dedicated team of experienced educators who understand both the academic and personal dimensions of the college journey.

Dr. Jinan El Sabbagh

Dr. Jinan El Sabbagh, Ph.D is a graduate of Oklahoma State University’s Curriculum Studies program. Prior to her doctoral studies, she taught high school English for six years and was a college and career counselor at the same school for two years. Her work is informed by her experience as both a K-12 and college educator with a multidisciplinary background.

She enjoys supporting students and their families as they navigate the transition from K-12 to higher education. She is excited about providing services such as Virtual Career Fairs, individualized consulting, and the monthly Counselor Corner newsletter with important deadlines and resources.

At Legacy, Dr. El Sabbagh specializes in individualized student advising, application strategy, and supporting families through complex decisions around college readiness, fit, and transition.

Dr. Salman Khan

Dr. Khan spent his career as a school counselor, admissions reader, and data strategist focused on improving post-secondary success for disadvantaged students. He has conducted research with local school districts, state agencies, and the US Department of Education.

He co-founded Muslim Campus Life to help advocate for American Muslim student needs on college campuses and previously founded Hidayah Services to help improve college access and awareness within the immigrant and American Muslim community.

Dr. Khan brings years of experience mentoring students through college selection, applications, and long-term academic planning, with a particular focus on helping Muslim students navigate higher education with confidence and clarity.

Together, they work closely with students and parents to ensure that each learner is supported academically, emotionally, and strategically throughout the college admissions process.

How We Support Students

Our College Counseling team provides personalized, one-on-one guidance tailored to each student’s goals, strengths, and circumstances. We recognize that no two students follow the same path, and our counseling reflects that reality.

Support includes:

  • Individual college planning meetings
  • Course selection and academic pathway guidance
  • College list building based on fit, goals, and values
  • Application strategy and timeline planning
  • Essay guidance and feedback
  • Parent consultations and check-ins

In addition to individual counseling, we host workshops throughout the year on key topics such as:

  • Understanding the college admissions process
  • Writing strong personal statements
  • Navigating selective admissions
  • SAT/ACT planning and alternatives
  • Transitioning from high school to college life

Our goal is to equip students with clarity, confidence, and the skills needed to advocate for themselves – both during admissions and beyond.
